Thanks Soul!

Figured the stylo was still alive with it'spolyps out, but the SSC and teal acro lost all flesh and had not seen any polyps in days. Also when taken out of the water, no slime. In my experience if a coral has no slime when out of water, it is dead.

Stylo I have moved lower in the tank(although I think light and flow had nothing to do with it now), and seems to be recovering. The bottom is starting to purple up again, but the entire thing is stark white.

Stinks with the ssc and acro but it happens to the best of us. Sometimes stress of move and slightest difference in water parameters is all 8t takes.

With the nitrates coming back in line I'm sure the stylo will recover. That coral has been through a lot and is still kicking

And I can't keep LPS... That beautiful giant gleaming elegance is a shrivled ball of flesh that is slowly receding and growing algae

Funny how different people are so challenged with different things growing in their tanks. I probably still have too high of flow, and you probably have too little or something like that. Who knows.

I have the most trouble keeping BTAs and then it would be frogspawn and torches. I have other LPS' that do great though. No idea why.

Trachyphyllia are the ones that die in my tank. I have a small frag of maze brain that is doing great, but big open brains, just die.

gold torches, gonipora, and a select few are my issue corals.

I have the most issues with copperbands though. I cant seem to keep them alive no matter what I do.

Had to pitch my torch today. Just started loosing flesh and a bunch of polyps were floating around the tank when I got home from work today. No idea what happened to it either. I've got all my parameters in line now(Nitrates are down to under 3). Sorta of looking like it could have been brown jelly. 2 heads were still alive, but I was not taking the chance of it was brown jelly. The heads had melted into a brownish goo. I have never seen brown jelly up close, but from my readings I was pretty sure thats what it was.

Sad day as it was the very first coral I ever bought.

In other tank news, I think I might have killed my pink monti as I see no little pink polyps anymore, but the red monti has recovered from the nitrate overdose as well as the purple stylo.

Starry blenny is doing great as well as the coris wrasse.

Sorry to hear about your corals. I've never been able to keep a torch, hammer, or the like. I have maintained good water parameters but for some odd reason they don't do well for me at all.

Seems like another acan is biting the dust, and i have no idea why. Quite frustrating as they are my favorite coral and I can't seem to keep them alive.

Parameters are all in line

Alk 8.3
Cal 420
MG 1350
NO3 2ppm
Po4 .31

And we all know that I'm running T5's so lighting isn't an issue. I guess I'll just have to give up on acans. They do great for a few months, then just start to wither away.

Picked up a couple fish from LA, a yellow eye kole, and flame back angel. Currently going through TTM. So we are back up to 5 fish. Yellow eye kole, flame back angel, coris wrasse, starry blenny, and warpaint goby.

Is there a way to stop this? The side facing the glass and light is nice and purple. The side thats under the curled over part, is white and has very few polyps.

Facing the light

Underside. You can see how the frag curls over

Monti thats nearly recovered. Just a small patch of dead flesh with some algae left over from the igh nitrates.

This acan is the one dying.

Acan from mike.

If you look back a few pages, you can see how that acan was when I bought it.

The acan receeding is begging for food. I would feed it a bit heavy right now to see if you can save it. It likely switched up its production for the higher nitrates and shocked it when dropping. Try giving it some food to see what happens.

You can also cut off the bad heads and dip in iodine to see if you can save the remainder.

I feed them twice a week with a mixture of LRS, mysis, and reef chili. Your saying feed it more? Every acan goes this way in my tank and that has always been my feeding regime.

Any idea on the stylo?

I woudl feed direct for a couple days to see what happens.

As for the stylo it looks like it is still on your rack so against your glass and as such no real light hitting bottom side even though you have T5. It will recover once on your rockwork and directly under T5 to have polyps and such on both sides. Likely also a slight flow issue.

I have mine in higher light but lower flow in my tank. That said SUPER hardy coral so it will adapt to where ever you place it.

I'll try feeding it daily to see what happens. Just odd as this is how any acan I put in my tank ends up. Just slowly withering away despite feeding twice a week.

yes the stylo is still on the rack. I was thinking after I typed it all out, it might be flow issue. On the rack it gets all the flow from one side, which may have caused it to curve over like it did.

I'll move it, and the slimer off the rack and as high up on my rocks as I can get it.

Could it be a bacterial issue affecting only that species? Maybe the others are immune to it.

Have you tried them out in a quarantine to see how they do separate from your dt? (Sorry if I missed this earlier)

I am completely done with the Kore Fifth.

I've been trying to upgrade the firmware for the last 2 hours. It does nothing but error out. And now since it's in bootloader mode, it won't do a damn thing.

Biggest POS in the reefing industry.

Woke up this morning to a dead cleaner shrimp. No idea on this one as I think it may have just been old age. No signs of disease, or any other thing in any of my inverts or fish.

I have noticed the last week or 2 it did not come out to eat like it usually does. Just figured it may have been getting ready to molt, as it normally won't eat a few days before a molt.

Sad day for me as this was the first SW purchase way back when I started the Biocube. I now have only 2 things left from the original biocube. My gorgonian, and the pink plating monti.

Sorry to hear that, I know how attached I am to my original fish from my first freshwater tank. He's still going strong. Seriously a family member at this point and when he goes I'm going to need some time off from work.
