Found your thread while researching Giesemann Matrix, I have a possibility of buying a used MatrixPlus Hybrid, doesn't quite look as slick as yours as it's a little older of a model but it has LED.
I am glad I found this, I love the aquascape. Tagging along...

It's a beautiful acro Rodney, i have a bit but it's all horrible dull off blue colored and hates me atm lol. When it was happy it had the beautiful blue white contrast you are keeping so i'm very envious
![]() I see it for sale very rarely and it's usually reddish brown branched with deep blue tips freshly arrived in the shop tanks so i'm pretty sure the amazing blue white contrasts many can pull is not what it typically looks like growing at the light level it prefers on the reefs - what do you think regarding the overall colors you can get as to whether we are pushing our acros beyond what they might actually prefer when it comes to light levels etc.

Been a while, just letting the tank do its thing...I used dry rock so it went through many stages of algae and thats all gone now so the scape is nice and purple and live
![]() Moved most of the corals to my bro's tank while mine went through the rollercoaster and ready to get it going now. Here are some pics of a few corals I have in my tank ![]() ![]() ![]()

Long story...so the Matrixx blew and was being tested / replaced etc..so in the meantime I bought a couple Hydra52 to keep the tank lit and was pleasantly surprised with the results after 2 months so added a couple more. Just waiting on a rail kit then ill run the lights in parallel - may add a 5th.
The Matrixx is sitting in its box as a back up light in case I change my mind on the LEDs. Thanks cFloor was fun to make that scape, I still enjoy looking at it daily too.

Well, now the title of your thread makes sense again! So, looking back, what is it that you think the mitras are lacking over radions and hydras 52s?

Thanks Matt, to be honest not sure why these are doing better than my old Mitras...maybe the lenses? are they newer LED? no idea. The Hydra52 are much brighter than my old Mitras LED, these are as if not brighter than my Matrixx T5 light - Im running whites at 60% max (at 20% for evening viewing) and the tank is fully lit and not dim at all.
Im getting 350 PAR on sand and 600 PAR at the main rock work overhangs when run full on. Where most go wrong with LED is not using enough, with 4-5 units the tank is getting flooded with light and no shadowing that LED usually has against it. Now the waiting game to see how all the corals react and grow, my lights are only 3months old so havent formed a solid opinion on them yet but a happy camper so far

While waiting for the AI rail to arrive (6 weeks) I decided to do a bit of DIY and whipped up a frame to hang the lights in parallel. Getting great coverage front to back, need another unit to get more coverage length wise in the meantime will add my corals within the light coverage. Interesting the tank looks crisper with the lights this way than run in a line as previous and the shimmer is like having halides thrown over the tank.
